Your Beauty Rx
Below are my current staples for glowing spring skin and hair.
People often ask me what I use on my skin. I try my best to choose products that are natural and organic but some of my favorites just don't meet those standards. In the end, it is what you put inside of your body that really makes your skin glow. Here are my current favorites.
Josie Maran Light Argan Oil. This is the first step in my nighttime skin care routine to remove my makeup. Oil dissolves oil. I have oily parts to my skin and this oil keeps my shiny spots in check. I massage a few drops of this oil all over my face and then gently rub off with a warm, wet washcloth.
Foreo Luna Mini. This little device has been revolutionary for my skin. This is the second step in my night time routine. I use various cleansers to lather up. Doing a second cleansing removes any traces of dirt and makeup left over and leaves my skin baby soft!
Fresh aloe. Every other week I buy a leaf of aloe from my local grocery store. I scoop out the goodness and blend with the juice of one lemon to help preserve freshness. It is gives amazing hydration plus the lemon helps brighten the skin naturally.
Intelligent Nutrients Stem Cell Renewal Complex. This serum is targeted for wrinkles but is also excellent in reducing hyperpigmentation and increasing collagen.
Luna Sleeping Night Oil. This magical blue sleeping oil is the last step in my skin regime at night. It is a retinol but complexed as an oil to keep it from being too drying. Keeps my pores microscopic and I wake up glowing!
Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask. This is a powerful mask that I use when I need a little extra exfoliation of my combination type skin. I usually put it on before I jump in the shower and wash off before I get out.
Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm. Very moisturizing while giving my lips a little pop of color. I have them everywhere - car, office, purse(s), nightstand - good thing they are inexpensive! I also have them in multiple colors - Fresh Plum, Petal Rose, Soft Caramel. Don't judge me! :)
Castor Oil. The brand isn't important as long as you get the real deal. I slather my hair with this and then slap on two plastic shower caps. I will leave this in my hair for 30 minutes up to overnight depending on how much time I have. Castor oil is essential for taming split ends and decreasing frizziness.
DevaCurl No-Poo Shampoo. My hair is fine and curly with a tendency to be dry. This cleans my hair without all the sudsy stuff that tend to dry it out. Available at Ulta stores nationwide or online.
Aveda Damage Remedy Treatment. Although my hair is not damaged, this keeps it that way! It also makes my hair incredibly soft and manageable without weighing it down. I alternate this every other week with my deep conditioner. Available at Aveda salons and stores.
Deva Curl Heaven in Hair Conditioner. When I have time for a deep condition this is my go-to. It is on the expensive side but worth every penny. I will layer avocado oil on top of it and sit under the dryer for 30 minutes then rinse with cold water to seal my hair cuticles. My hair LOVES oil but due to it's fine texture it can become greasy when applied during styling. This solves the problem while keeping my hair extremely moisturized.
Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I use this gel to set my curls. A little goes a long way - use too much and it can become flaky. This makes my curls shiny, defined, and soft without the crunch. Available at most Target and Whole Food stores.
